What’s in it?

Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion has been famous for its Hyaluronic Acid (HA) content in the lotion. Hada Labo even came out with the latest lotion with latest New High Performance Penetrating and Deep Moisturising (HPP&M) Technology. The technology infuses 4 types of HA molecules into different skin layers actively.

Butylene Glycol – Texture enhancer, safe to use in cosmetics products

Glycerin – Helps maintain a healthy look and feel, defending against dryness

Hyaluronic Acid – Boost skin’s moisture content, soothe, and defend against moisture loss. Capable of holding up to 1000 times its own weight in water. A great hydrator!

Sodium Hyaluronate – Salt form hyaluronic acid. Considered more effective for skin than pure hyaluronic acid due to its greater compatibility.

Methylparaben – Preservatives. Gentle, non-sensitizing, and highly effective, compared to other preservatives. They were also derived naturally from plants.

There are many types of HA that helps in different ways. You can find these common types of HA in Hada Labo Hydrating Lotions:

Large-size HA – Forms a layer of moisture retaining barrier to protect skin from moisture loss. It covers the Medium-size HA firmly to effectively provide skin with a powerful double later moisture-locking shield to lock in moisture on skin.

Small-size HA – New generation of HA, small molecule size of HA seals the gap of Medium-size HA to form a high density moisture barrier on skin surface to restore skin moisture.

Medium-size HA – New generation of HA, with high water retention ability, staying on skin surface to hold moisture and maintain long lasting hydration.

Super HA – With 2 times the moisture retention capacity of HA, it is able to mimic the natural moisturising ability and combine with Medium-size HA to lock in and retain large volume of moisture inside the skin for super hydration.

Nano HA – With the fine molecule size of 1/20 of HA, it easily penetrates and infuses moisture deep into the skin to prepare skin for enhanced skin care ingredients absorption.

The 4 types of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion (Light) helps to deeply hydrate skin and preserve its optimum moisture balance. The small-size HA locks in moisture to protect from moisture loss and improve dehydrated skin condition.

For people who are unfamiliar with Japan skincare, lotion literally means toner in their country. So for those who are intending to get a moisturizing cream rather than a toner, please purchase the one which states “moisturizing milk” instead of “moisturizing lotion”.

My Verdict

The reason I purchased the Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion was because I was planning a trip to Japan and I have done extensive research on top beauty products you must buy in Japan and Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion was one of them. I was told “1 bottle is sold every 4 seconds in Japan!” and I was quite surprise so I knew I must give this a go.

When I first opened the bottle there was hardly any smell, which means there’s no added fragrance like they claim. This was reassuring for me as I have sensitive skin. When I first poured the lotion onto my palm it was thicker than I expected as it looked very watery from the outside. The texture of the lotion felt slightly sticky when I pat it onto my face, but I didn’t feel any discomfort or irritation. After the lotion got absorbed onto my skin it did make my skin feel more supple and smooth.

Packaging

Simple white colour, plastic bottle with a pump applicator for the large bottle.

Price

240ml for $20 Approx. One bottle will take around 12 months to finish.

Beauty Tip

I would use the Hada Labo Lotion as a toner so it would go right after cleansing and before water base serum, follow by vitamin C, retinoids, and face cream. However you could apply a light water base peptide before the Hada Labo lotion if you would like to add a peptide in your routine.

Overall Rating 4 Stars

I am onto my 4th bottle now and will continue to use this Hyaluronic Acid as a stable in my routine
